I remember when Google Wave came out, and someone told me it’d be the ‘next big thing’.
It collapsed in August 2010 due to lack of interest just a year after it was released.
To become as successful as Google, you’ve got to shed some weight along the way – and Google Reader’s demise this month really brought this back to everyone’s attention.
And Wordstream have summarised it very well in this infographic – listing all the dead services, ideas and projects that were cut off as deadwood along the way.
There are too many for me to list – but I wonder how many people have even heard of iGoogle, Google Health, Picnik, Aardvark or Sidewiki?
