It’s nice when the data does the drawing for you.

Although admittedly, you have to make it look beautiful, and that’s exactly what Twitter did.

Every dot is a tweet, and the colour/intensity represents the tweet count – and most magically, you can map out the maritime routes between the UK and Ireland, purely by the tweets (seriously, how cool is that?)

That, and Scotland aren’t really on board with that whole tweeting thing – and the Welsh mountains don’t allow for much of that internet thing.

There are more visualisations on Twitter’s blog, and they’re all rather beautiful.

Simplicity is underrated.
