Dear kids of today. You may find this hard to believe but not so long ago we used to talk to our friends, sometimes using a phone or sometimes even in person. I know, shocker!

Nowadays we don’t need to leave the comfort of the house to socialise with our friends. Thanks to the joys of social media networks we can talk to people all around the world, at any time of the day whilst making absolutely no effort with our personal hygiene or appearance. Bliss.

There are so many social media sites that it can be hard to know which one to use or which one best suits our needs.  Well if the gender of its users is important to you then this infographic might well help you.

It shows which gender favours which individual site. Facebook and Youtube, for example, are unsurprisingly gender neutral. After all who doesn’t love spying on their friends, posting photos and watching videos of cats jump into boxes!?

Women, it seems, tend to prefer Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr and Twitter (amongst others). Whereas Vimeo, Google+ and Linkedin featured among the sites preferred by males.

The infographic itself is pretty self-explanatory with colour coded stick figures depicting the difference in preference. Extra bonus points are to be awarded to the designers for not being obvious with the colours used for each gender, steering away from the overtly sexist pink and blue colour allocation.

That said, this is not one for those that love design. Although the simplicity helps with the understanding, the genuinely interesting content is somewhat let down by the understated design. I know everyone loves a stick man but this army of sticky people is a little too much.
